Let's see how we introduce ourselves!

(Vediamo come ci presentiamo!)

Helen: Hello, my name is Helen. What is your name?

Sean: Hi Helen, nice to meet you!My name is Sean,where are you from?

Helen: I am from Canada, and where are you from?

Sean: I am from New York. Would you like to go to the cinema tonight?

(gli inglesi usano per lo piú "cinema", ma gli americani usano "movie" = cinema)

Helen: That's a wonderful idea! What time do you like?

Sean: Oh, maybe 8 pm? (si dice: "eight p.m")

Helen: Yes, 8 pm is fine. See you later then!

Sean: Ok Sean, see you at the cinema then!Bye bye

(oppure "goodbye", ma di solito goodbye é usato quando non ci si vedrá per un po di tempo).

Translation (traduzione):

H= Helena; S= Sean

H:Ciao, il mio nome é Helena. Qual'é il tuo?

S: Ciao, piacere di conoscerti!Mi chiamo Sean, da dove vieni?

H: Vengo dal Canada, e tu da dove vieni?

S: Io sono di New York. Ti piacerebbe andare al cinema stasera?

H: É una bellissima idea!A che ora ti andrebbe bene?

S: Oh, forse 8 di sera (pm= post meridian, che vuol dire "dopo mezzogiorno")

H: Si, alle 8 di sera va bene. CI vediamo piú tardi allora!

S: Va bene Sean, ci vediamo al cinema allora! Ciao Ciao (diciamo che "goodbye" si puó tradurre con un nostro arrivederci,

anche se noi peró arrivederci lo diciamo solitamente a persone con cui non abbiamo molta confidenza).

Verbi, una cosa fondamentale! (verbs, very important thing!)

"TO BE" = ESSERE

I am Io sono

You are Tu sei

She/He/It is Lei/Lui/Esso é

We are Noi siamo

you are Voi siete

they are Loro sono

ps. la seconda persona singolare e plurale-YOU ARE- ("tu sei" e "voi siete") in inglese, é uguale.

the second person singular and plural-YOU ARE- in english is the same.

EXERCISES:

TRUE OR FALSE? (VERO O FALSO?)

Scrivi, accanto alla frase,una "T" se credi che sia vera,

o una "F" se credi che sia falsa.

Esempio (example): Helen likes to go to the cinema. T ; É vero! Ad Helena piace andare al cinema!

3. Helen is from New York, as Sean.

4. Sean is from Canada.

5. Sean and Helen do not like to go to the cinema.

6. Helen would like to go to the cinema.

7. They will meet at the cinema at 9 pm.
